How the college model works
Ratings use completed FBS games, scoring margins capped at 35 points, opponent strength, a modest home-field adjustment and shrinkage toward average when samples are small. Recent prior-season games carry much less weight because college rosters change. Games against FCS schools appear on the schedule but do not contribute to FBS ratings.
A matchup estimate appears only when both FBS teams have at least three completed FBS games this season. These probabilities have not been calibrated against outcomes; they are experimental projections, not betting recommendations.
