Three Week 3 NFL matchups to watch

These previews explain what changed in the market and what the current number means for a fan. They are editorial snapshots, not EdgeLine's member forecasts or official picks. Prices can change before kickoff.

Source: EdgeLine's live odds feed, observed September 26 at 12:47 UTC. Spread is shown from the home team's side. An opening line is a reference point, not necessarily a price still available. Kickoff times below are Eastern.

Chiefs at Dolphins — Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET

Spread: opening → observedKansas City −8.5 → −10.5
Total: opening → observed44.5 → 45.5 points

The favorite's required margin moved by two points. At −10.5, Kansas City must win by at least 11 to cover. A ten-point Chiefs win would have covered −8.5, but would lose at −10.5; that is the practical cost of arriving after the move. A final score of 28–17 would total 45 and finish Under the observed 45.5, even though Kansas City won by 11 and covered the observed spread.

Watch before kickoff: check the available number and price together, plus verified quarterback and injury status. Movement itself does not establish why the market changed. Open the Chiefs–Dolphins matchup page.

Ravens at Cowboys — Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET

Spread: opening → observedBaltimore −2.5 → −3.5
Total: opening → observed50.5 → 53.5 points

This move crosses the key margin of three. If Baltimore wins 27–24, an earlier −2.5 ticket covers, while −3.5 does not. The total also rose three points: 27–24 produces 51, which is Over the opening 50.5 but Under the observed 53.5. That makes this matchup a clear example of why a market opinion without its exact line is incomplete.

Watch before kickoff: check pace, confirmed personnel and weather, then compare the available total with the one used in any analysis. Open the Ravens–Cowboys matchup page.

Eagles at Bears — Monday, 8:15 p.m. ET

Spread: opening → observedPick'em → Philadelphia −4.5
Total: opening → observed47.5 → 41.5 points

The observed market moved from no spread favorite to Philadelphia needing a five-point win to cover. The observed total is six points lower than its opening value. A 24–20 Eagles result would settle the moneyline for Philadelphia, lose Philadelphia −4.5, and go Over 41.5 with 44 combined points. It would have gone Under 47.5. These changes warrant checking a fresh line and the underlying team news, without assuming a cause from the numbers alone.

Watch before kickoff: verify the latest personnel reports and weather, and note whether the spread or total has moved again. Open the Eagles–Bears matchup page.
